• 1961 Western High Girl's Swim Team (Kathie Moosekian) c.1961

I got married in 1962, had 3 Children, lived in California from 66-70, moved back to Michigan in '70, lived in Lincoln Park till '82, then Brighton till retirement. I swam in the masters program in Brighton L.A.F.S in '95-'97. I moved to Florida in '99. We have just started up a masters program and hopefully it will be a success.  I never had a outside job. I was a stay-at-home wife and mother. I met Bill, my husband of 38 years and my best friend, in 1958 on a "Blind Date" and have been with him ever since. My hobbies are swimming and now I am learning golf.

I grew up across from Patton and was there everyday. I loved the pool and remember winning the Detroit City Championship for swimming when I was around 10-12, not really sure after all these years. I just remember winning. I was taught to swim by Joan Kintzing when I was 6 years old and I remember she said when I could swim across the pool I could join the swim team. I swam till I went to Western High then I swam for Western. I had Mrs. Herring for my coach.

I taught my children to swim and my youngest daughter swam through high school and also at Grand Valley State University.  My life growing up swimming is why I wanted to join Masters, so that after all these years I can get the thrill of competition again.
