Swimmers
Set Marks

Public School League swimmers were in a record breaking mood yesterday. They smashed seven pool marks. 
Three were set in Denby's 100-foot pool, one by a Cooley swimmer, two by Eastern contestants and one by a Mackenzie swimmer.
Dave Wendler, of Denby, won the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley, setting a mark of 2:28.6 in the medley, as Denby whipped Southeeaster 62-24. Monty Blashill, a Denby sophomore, swam the 200-yard freestyle in 2:08.3 and teammate John Butout negotiated the 50-free style in 25.1 for the other marks. 
Cooley defeated Cody, 62-24, with Roy Burry taking the 100 and 200-yard freestyle, Russ Leon the butterfly and individual medley. Jim Barstow captured the 100-yard breaststroke in a record 1:13. 
Fred and Jim MacMillan cracked records while leading Eastern to a 61-25 victory over Pershing in the losers' pool. Fred won the individual medley in a record 2:23 in addition to taking the 100-yard butterfly. Jim swam the 100-yard freestyle in 55 seconds flat. 
Steve Sealander, of Mackenzie, led in the butterfly and medley as Mackenzie tied Western 43-43. He set a Western pool record of 2:26.3 in the medley. 
Redford swept 10 firsts while crushing Chadsey, 74-12. Al Pollock took the backstroke and medley. Dick Dixon had firsts in the backstroke and medley as Cass trounced Central, 65-19 for its first triumph after four losses.
