PATTON SWIMMERS
TAKE FLINT MEET

Last Saturday the Patton Swim Team again exemplified why
they are considered
one of the best Age Group teams in the state of Michigan, if not the
best.
The A.A.U. Age Group Buick Vehicle Swim Meet held in Flint, Michigan,
was
won, hands down, by the Patton swimmers, under coach Harry E. Hauck.
For example, out of six relay events, Patton took four and
in five girls
freestyle events, Patton took three. Patton also had a triple winner in
the Boys 15 and 16 events. John Savinski won the 50 yard Freestyle, and
the 200 yard Freestyle, and the 100 yard Butterfly. Greg Penn, a double
winner in the Boys 10 and under 50 yard Breaststroke and 100 yard
Freestyle,
also set two new state age-group records in these events.
Another state age-group record also fell to the boys 13 and
14 Medley
Relay consisting of Doug Webster, John Hollinger, Carl Boyd, and Mark
Manrique.
Patton's individual winners were:
11 and 12 Girls 50 yard Freestyle: Lee Davis (29.0).
13 and 14 Girls 50 yard Freestyle: Joan Makkonen (29.3).
Women's Open 200 yard Freestyle: Lynn Makkonen (2:13.0).
10 and Under Boys 50 yard Breaststroke: Greg Penn (40.0).
10 and Under Boys 100 yard Freestyle: Greg Penn (1:12.1).
13 and 14 Boys 100 yard Butterfly: Doug Webster (1:04.1)
15 and 16 Boys 50 yard Freestyle: John Savinsky (24.7).
15 and 16 Boys 200 yard Freestyle: John Savinsky (1:59.1).
15 and 16 Boys 100 yard Butterfly: John Savinsky (59.4)
Men's Open 200 yard Breaststroke: Tom Sullivan (2:30.1)

The Patton team has a two week rest period before their next
meet, the
Girls State Championship A.A.U. for all girls 16 and under to be held
at
Fitzgerald High School, March 4.
