Patton Boys Set 
National Swim Mark

Patton Tiger Sharks were notified this week that three of their recent relay times were the fastest in this country in the 13-14 year old age group swimming races for boys. 
This distinction was won by Gary Gottschling, Jim Teunas, John Sherk, Greg Penn and Bill Beiser. 
The first four swam a 400-yard medley relay in 4:05 and a 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:35.4 for new national marks in their age division.
Beiser later replaced Teunas for the breaststroke leg in a 400-meter medley relay for the third record with a time fo 4:35.4.
WIN IN OHIO
The first quartet won the 200 meter freestyle relay in 1:51.8 in the invitational age-group meet held in Hiram College's 25-meter tank in Hiram, Ohio, last weekend. 
In the individual events, Sherk won the 100-meter freestyle in 1:00.6 and Penn the 200-meter individual medley in 2:33.5. Tom Bates won the 100-meter breastroke in 1:12.9 in the 15-17 age class and Doug Messer gave the Tiger Sharks another first by taking the 100-meter butterfly in the same age bracket by winning in 1:05.9. 
DOUBLE WINNER
The Tiger Sharks' Joanne Scarborough was a double winner finishing first in the 100-meter butterfly in 1:16.6 and the 200-meter individual medley in 2:39.5 in the 15-17 year class.
Barbara Church took the 100-meter backstroke in 1:17.8 for another Tiger Shark score.
