DANBOISE SETS
AAU RECORD
By R.G. FLETEMEYER
Last Saturday, three girls from the Patton swimming team
journeyed to
Youngstown, Ohio for the Youngstown invitational swimming meet.
Sponsored
by the Lake Erie Swimming Association, the meet attracted swimmers from
all parts of the midwest.
Carol Danboise, eleven year old swimmer from Patton,
performed outstandingly
well in the 200 yard freestyle for girls 11 and 12, by winning the
event
and setting a new district A.A.U. record.
The old record for the event was held by Carol Cupp of the
Toledo Club
with a time of 2:29.5. Danboise, however, lowered the existing mark 4.3
seconds as she clocked a 2:25.2.
Besides Carol Danboise, Bonnie Danboise and Mary Lou Shefsky
also made
the trip. Mary Lou placed third in the girls' 50 yard butterfly
with
a time of 33.1
