TINA SETS MARK
IN AAU MILE

CUYAHOGA FALLS, O.--Tina Solis led Detroit's Northwest Aquatic Club
(sic) to the team championship of the junior National AAU long distance
swimming championships Saturday with a record-breaking one-mile swim.
Tina swam the mile in the 13-14-year-old girl class
in 23:17.2, breaking a four-year-old record.
Julie Hawkins was first in the 11-12 class in the
mile swim for Northwest Aquatic with a 24:54.7 clocking and teammate Harriet
Turney was second.
Dave Pohlonski took a second in the four-mile junior
men's race for the Northwest which also drew a third place finish from
Sue Smith in the 13-14 girls' mile event.
Detroit's Patton Pool finished third in the
team standings with Indianapolis Aquatic second. Mary Beth Ceresko took
a second in the 13-14 race and her sister, Alice Ceresko, was third in
the 11-12 race. George Saldana was third in the four-mile swim for
Patton.
