Cody Nips Redford's Swimmers
by HARVEY BARCUS

Disqualification of its medley relay, because one of the members failed to make a proper turn, lost Redford a dual swimming meet yesterday.
Cody won, 53-48. The medley disqualification deprived Redford of eight points, more than enough to win.
John Westcott, of Cody, and Larry Hatswell, of Redford, scored doubles, Westcott leading in the 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley, Hatswell taking the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Westcott set a Cody pool record of 2:17.5 in the medley.
Cody's John Stewart swam the 100- yard butterfly in 60.8 seconds, another pool record.
Pete Adams was timed in 4:20.1 for the 400-yard freestyle and 2:01.8 for 200 yards, and Ray Ferguson made the 100-yard butterfly in 59 seconds flat for pool records as Pershing conquered Southeastern, 78-22. Pershing swept all 11 events.
Earl Showerman's firsts in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley led Cooley to a 65-40 victory over Mackenzie.
Denby swimmers bettered three team records while downing Mumford, 69-36. Dick Butout made the 100-yard butterfly in 1:04.9; Tom Puttu was timed in 1:15 for the 100-yard breaststroke. Monty Blashill, of Denby (200 and 400-yard freestyle) and Dick Golden, of Mumford (50 and 100-yard freestyle) scored doubles.
Rick Skarbo and George Saldana starred as Western beat Chadsey, 64-31. Skarbo led in the backstroke and individual medley, Saldana taking the 200 and 400-yard freestyle.
