Patton Pool swimmers broke three national age group records in the 12-year-and-under
classification in the Hiram College meet at Hiram, Ohio, Sunday.
Gary Gottschling, 12, accounted for two records in the backstroke when
he covered the 100 meters in 1:10.5 and the 50 meters in 32.1. He teamed
with the Szuba brothers, Tom and John, and Scott Johnson for the third
mark in the 400 meter medley relay as the quartet was timed in 5:08.4.
Patton's Laura Novak, 10, broke two Lake Erie District records with
a 1:31 for the 100-meter breast- stroke and a 37.8 for the 50-meter butterfly.
