Detroiters Win
Ohio Swim Meet
CUYAHOGA FALLS, O., Aug. 5. ---Disqualified in the medley relay because
of an illegal kick, Patton Pool, of Detroit, won the 800-meter freestyle
relay and gained team honors in an open and age class swimming meet here
yesterday.
Patton won with 99 points to 82 for Vesper Boat Club, of Philadelphia.
The winning relay team was composed of Doug Webster, Monty Blashill, George
Saldana and Dick Gilbert. The time was 9:01.
Five of the 12 men's events were taken by Patton swimmers. The
Detroiters' Rick Skarbo was the individual leader, with firsts in the open
100 and 200-meter backstrokes, and the 400-meter individual medley as well
as the 16-17 200-meter individual medley in a record 2:28.
