1,200 Youngsters in Patton Pool All-Group Meet
More than 1,200 entries have been received for the annual Tiger Sharks age-group swimming meet Tuesday and Wednesday in the Patton Pool.
The meet will start at 9 a.m. both days with the finals starting around 4 p.m. Thirty races are scheduled for Tuesday and 31 for Wednesday for both boys and girls in age groups from 10-and- under, up to the open classes (over 17).
Etobicoke Swimming Club, of Toronto, with 25 swimmers, has one of the largest entry lists. Other swimmers are coming from Milwaukee and Racine, Wis., Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsyl- vania swimming centers.
Plans to limit each of the age-group swimming events to two-heats were given up by Tom Sullivan, director of the meet and coach of the Tiger Sharks.
"We put a cut-off time as a requirement entry to keep the field down to workable size," he said. "We wanted to draw only the fastest swimmers. We've got them all right, but we didn't think there would be so many. We'll have to have a half dozen heats in some of the races."
