Ted Wild and Steve Burt each won two events as Osborn
beat Eastern, 69-35, in a season-opening Public School League dual swim
meet yesterday.
Wild paced the 100 and 50-yard freestyle in 57.5 and 24.7,
while Burt topped the 400 and 200 freestyle in 4:43.1 and 2:10.4.
Ken Karasick clocked 2:07 and 55.5 for the 200 and 100-yard
freestyle in highlighting Cooley's 74-30 lacing of Ford. The winners took
nine firsts and six seconds.
Despite Dave Sahagian's victories in the 100 butterfly
(1:06.5) and 400 freestyle (4:44.3), Western bowed to Mackenzie 61-44.
Denby disposed of Central, 72- 33, as Fred Cowles and
Gary Van Gorp each won two events Wednesday. Cowles led the 50 freestyle
in 25.3 and also paced the 100 freestyle.
DeLaSalle was an easy 68-35 victor over Sacred Heart,
winning eight of 11 events.
