State AAU Swim Ruled by Patton
Patton Pool's Joanne Scarborough was responsible for five of nine swimming
records set yesterday as the Patton Pool team won the first Swimming Hall
of Fame meet at Fitzgerald High.
Patton totaled 386 points. Motor City Swim Club was second with 286
points and Garden City was third with 165 points in age-group and open
classification competition.
Miss Scarborough set records in the 200-yard butterfly for girls 15-17
years old in 2:26.4; 200-yard individual medley (2:27.1); 15-17 and open
500-yard freestyle events (5:52.4); and in the 400-yard individual medley,
15-17, (5:08.2).
The Patton boys' 13 and 14-year-old relay team set records in the 400-yard
medley (4:11.7) and freestyle (3:50.6) events; the girls' 400-yard freestyle
relay team was timed in a record 4:10.3 in the 15-17 age bracket and the
Patton Pool men's open 400-yard freestyle relay team was timed in 3:33.1.
